Plot & Summary

Raazi is a movie that showcases the life of an undercover agent in enemy country.  Lead role as an undercover agent is played by Alia Bhat (Sehmat).  She is the daughter of an Indian Agent, Hidayat Khan (role played by Rajit Kapoor) who work in Indian Embassy located in Pakistan.  Hidyata constantly interacts with Pakistan officials like Brigadier Parvez Syed (role played by Shishir Sharma) and communicates vital info to Indian Intelligence.  Hidyat comes to know of an impending threat and thinks that someone needs to work closely in Pakistan.  Due to his failing health, he is unable to continue getting more info and suggest that his daughter can do the job.  Hidayat proposes the marriage of his daughter (Sehmat) to Brigadier’s younger son Iqal Sayed (role played by Vicky Kaushal).  Hidayat shares info about his deteriorating health, impending threat to India and marriage proposal with Sehmat.    Sehmat is initially surprised but eventually agrees as she has similar patriotic feeling like her father.  She gets trained for some of the skills that will enable her to share info back to Indian Intelligence from Pakistan.  The training involves learning about – Morse Code, Communication, Secret codes, Important Phone number, Shooting, Wresting and many more.

Sehmat marries and moves to Pakistan, from then on, every scene is extremely thrilling.  The way she sets up the transmission unit at home, bugs at various spots at Brigadiers home, listens to conversation.  It also gripping to see how she uses the time to communicate any info back to India via Morse code and phone calls.  She diligently follows every instruction and acts against those who doubt her identity.  Though she does her job very well, internally she faces conflicts and wonders why many innocents are harmed.  Inspite of all the thoughts, she sticks to her mission.  The info she gathers plays vital cog in helping Indian defence win the war against its enemies.

The movie shows how a network of people work in foreign countries as spies, to get info and help any agent in need.  Roles played by every individual looked spot on and the director has done a great job throughout the movie.

This is not one of those typical Bollywood movies with multiple song.  There is just one song when Alia marries Brigadiers son.

Picturization of the movie is simply amazing.  Some of the shots of valley look extremely beautiful and one gets a desire to visit the place.

Conclusion

One of the Best Bollywood Thriller movies for the year 2018.  There is lots of suspense throughout the movie which will keep the audience in doubt.  Alia has done great job in the movie and most dependable actor when it comes to playing serious roles.  Every other supporting actor in the movie have played their roles with almost commitment and made it so much believable.  Dialogues in the movies are just perfect and nothing seem to be too harsh.

I hope we get to see many more such movies in the coming days.
